Join Me and Unite to Fight PKD!

The past year has been a roller coaster ride for the PKD community. In November 2012, Otsuka Pharmaceuticals presented results from the Tolvaptan Efficacy and Safety in Management of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease Outcomes (TEMPO) Trial at the American Society of Nephrology, revealing the first time a drug showed efficacy in halting the progression of ADPKD in humans.

Then in April, the FDA announced it would grant priority review status for Tolvaptan for the treatment of autosomal dominant PKD. Sadly, in August the U.S. FDA's Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee voted against the approval of Tolvaptan.
This was a huge set back for people living with PKD and for me personally, as my 4 children have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease.

The is still no treatment or cure, but there still is hope. Over the last 30 years, the PKD Foundation has invested over $31 million in research, clinical and scientific grants, fellowships, scientific meetings and educational programs, including the early work done to identify vasopressin as a potential target. (Tolvaptan a vasopressin 2 receptor antagonist.)

Today, the PKD Foundation leads the fight against PKD through research, education, advocacy, support and awareness. Please join our fight and help make a difference in the lives of millions of people with PKD by making a donation or signing up and walking with us.

Thank you for your support!
